Students will learn the basis of Global Methodist governance through Scripture, Wesleyan theology, and the writings of John Wesley. Students learn why Methodism is connectional rather than congregational, how Wesley's leadership structures are implemented in the Global Methodist Church, and how Certified Lay Ministers participate in the Church's shared mission. This course serves as training for those serving on Church Council, Nominations, SPRC, Trustees, or Finance.

Course Description:
This course will equip the student with a basic understanding of the Bible: its source, development, preservation, translation, and use throughout history. A student will get a brief introduction to the content of its "library," too, and understand the overarching grand narrative and the integral relationship between the Old and New Testaments. The primary focus will be on gaining essential tools to begin studying the Bible yourself. Such study is life-transforming for the student but also provides a foundation for teaching and preaching what you find in this incredible Word. These skills in basic Bible study will help you trust, understand, and apply God’s word more fully and faithfully in your own life and to equip others to do the same.
