As the North Carolina Conference of the Global Methodist Church, our mission is to make the life of discipleship normative through worship, word and witness so that we make disciples of Jesus Christ and spread scriptural holiness across the globe.
After the resurrection of Jesus, the disciples went to the mountain as He had asked.
“When they saw him, they worshiped him…” (Matt. 28:16-17).
They worshiped Jesus and listened to His words of instruction.
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me” (Matt. 28:18).
Through His word came the mission.
Jesus said: “…you will be my witnesses…” (Acts 1:8).
“…go and make disciples of all nations…” (Matt. 28:19).
The mission is to become witnesses to make disciples.
Being a disciple of Jesus Christ is a lifestyle.
Go up to worship Jesus. To meet Him. To be in relationship with Him.
Dig into the word of God to listen to Him speak. Be transformed by His word.
Go out to be witness of the Gospel. Make disciples. Spread scriptural holiness.
The lifestyle of discipleship is like our heartbeat.
It’s a rhythm of life for those who belong to Jesus.
For those who, follow Jesus.
It’s a life of worship, word and witness.
It forms a pulse. The beat of life.
Just like our heart beats to circulate oxygen and nutrients through our bodies to keep us healthy and alive, so this pattern of discipleship pulses in our lives to keep us growing as disciples.
In the same way, worship, word, and witness create a life-giving rhythm within the church.
Worship draws us into the presence of Jesus.
The Word shapes us into the likeness of Jesus.
Witness sends us into the world in the name of Jesus.
This pulse keeps disciples growing and the mission moving.
John Wesley is attributed with saying: “The church changes the world not by making converts but by making disciples.” It’s not just making more church members. It is living transformed lives through discipleship and replicating that pulse all around us. Disciples who make more disciples. It is the rhythm, the pulse that keeps beating. The mission is never ending, until the whole world knows.
Worship the Lord.
Study the word.
Share the gospel.
Make Disciples.
Spread scriptural holiness.
