Day 28: He Who Watches Over You

Scripture: “He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.” – Psalm 121:3-4

God doesn’t sleep. He doesn’t take breaks, get distracted, or forget about you.

When you’re lying awake at 3 a.m., anxious about tomorrow—God is awake too. Not because He’s anxious, but because He’s watching over you. When you finally fall asleep, exhausted from worry—God is still awake, still guarding.

“He will not let your foot slip.” This is the language of a dangerous mountain path. One wrong step and you fall. But God is watching every step, keeping you from slipping in ways you don’t even realize.

I know a man who almost made a business decision that would have destroyed him. He was ready to sign the contract. But at the last minute, something felt off—an unease he couldn’t shake. He walked away. Two months later, the company he almost partnered with was exposed for fraud and collapsed.

He told me, “I didn’t hear God’s voice. I didn’t have a vision. Just this sense that I shouldn’t sign. Now I realize—God kept my foot from slipping into something that would have wrecked me.”

How many times has God done that for you? Kept you from a decision that would have destroyed you? Closed a door you desperately wanted to open? Redirected your path in ways you resented at the time but now see as protection?

The world says: you’re on your own, so stay alert, stay vigilant. God says: I’m watching over you. I never sleep. You can rest because I’m awake.

The Trust Triangle:

BELIEVE: God is always watching over me—never sleeping, never distracted, never taking a break.

RECEIVE: Even when I’m unaware, God is guarding my steps, protecting me from slipping in ways I don’t even realize.

RESPOND: Today, instead of carrying the burden of constant vigilance, I can rest in the truth that God is watching over me. What worry can I release because of this?

Reflection: Where can you look back and see God kept your foot from slipping, even when you didn’t realize it at the time?

Prayer: “God, You watch over me. You never sleep, never slumber, never take Your eyes off me. Thank You for the times You’ve kept my foot from slipping, the dangers I didn’t even see, the disasters You prevented, the doors You closed for my protection. Today, I release the burden of constant vigilance. Help me rest in the truth that You’re watching over me, always.”
