Day 17: His Love Endures Forever

Scripture: “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His love endures forever.” – Psalm 136:1

Psalm 136 is remarkable. It’s 26 verses long, and every single verse ends with the same phrase: “His love endures forever.”

The Lord made the heavens—His love endures forever. He struck down the firstborn of Egypt—His love endures forever. He divided the Red Sea—His love endures forever. He led His people through the wilderness—His love endures forever.

Twenty-six times: His love endures forever.

The repetition isn’t an accident. It’s a rhythm. A heartbeat. A truth so foundational that it needs to be repeated until it sinks all the way in: God’s love doesn’t have an expiration date.

We live in a world of expiring love. Relationships end. Feelings fade. People move on. Even the best human love has limits—geographical, emotional, circumstantial. But God’s love? It endures. Forever.

I remember sitting with a woman whose husband had just left her after 30 years of marriage. She kept saying, “I thought love was supposed to last. I thought we were forever.” And we cried together because the world is full of love that doesn’t endure.

But then we opened to Psalm 136. And we read it out loud, all 26 verses, letting that phrase wash over us again and again: His love endures forever. When human love fails, God’s love endures. When circumstances change, His love endures. When you change, when you fail, when you can’t hold it together—His love endures.

Forever isn’t just a long time. It’s outside of time. It’s unshakeable. Unchanging. Secure.

The Trust Triangle:

BELIEVE: God’s love for me doesn’t have an expiration date. It endures—forever.

RECEIVE: No matter what changes in my life, no matter who walks away, no matter how I fail, God’s love toward me endures. It’s not temporary. It’s eternal.

RESPOND: Today, when I’m tempted to believe love is unreliable or temporary, I can anchor myself in this truth: His love endures forever. What fear can I release because of this?

Reflection: What relationship or loss has made you doubt that love can last? How does God’s enduring love speak to that wound?Prayer: “LORD, Your love endures forever. Thank You that Your love isn’t like human love—temporary, conditional, fragile. Today, I anchor myself in Your enduring love. Help me trust that no matter what changes, no matter who leaves, Your love for me will never end. Let that truth heal [specific wound from failed human love].”
